Saint Louis University Libraries have implemented the Electronic Resources Management Module (ERM), a product of Innovative Interface, in 2009. This presentation is to describe the whole process of this implementation, demonstrating the advantages of the system, and future improvement we would like to get.
We hope to use ERM to streamline the management of electronic resources on the staff end, and make it visible to the public, and make certain information, e.g. ILL rights associated with the resources, available in the OPAC. As we have noticed, electronic resources are taking a bigger role in libraries and they are definitely taking bigger chunk of libraries’ material budget. It is certainly true here at SLU libraries, hence it is important to use an automated system to manage these resources effectively and efficiently.
This presentation will cover all aspects of the implementation process, such as resource records set up, coverage load, and license records display, etc. In the meantime, I will talk about our future goals associated with the use of ERM, such as the use of ERM statistics functionality.
This presentation will serve as an introduction to those who are planning to install an ERM and as well as for those who are planning to implement ERM.
