Yes it's true! Increasingly hotels are doing away with free wifi and opting to make this a paid service. We think that stinks. The Holiday Inn offers complimentary wireless internet access in all guest rooms, the lobby, and our meeting rooms.
Connecting to the wifi network
The hotel wireless network is called 'Goldentree'. There is no password required. Assuming your laptop is powered on and has the ability to connect to wifi networks, you should see 'Goldentree' in your list of available networks. You need only select it.
After you select the wireless network you will likely be notified that Goldentree is an unsecure network, and asked if you would still like to join it. This is usually ok, but keep in mind that the Goldentree network does not provide encryption like your home/work networks. SSL wiki will be visible to folks who may or may not be listening!
